But fortunately for actress Sally Whittaker, her real life couldn't be any more different than her soap alter ego as she relaxed in the Turkey sunshine.
Dressed in a flower-print green bikini and designer sunglasses, the 46-year-old showed off her trim figure as she sunbathed on a yacht.
Family break: Coronation Street Sally Whittaker shows off her trim figure as she holidays in Turkey with her family
The mother-of-three is enjoying a family holiday on a yacht off the Turkish coast on a well-earned break from the long hours on the Corrie cobbles.
Joined by Emmerdale scriptwriter husband Tim Dynevor, Whittaker has been spending precious family time with her children Phoebe, 14, Samuel, 11, and Hatty, six.
Fortunately for Whittaker, her children are well behaved in contrast to her on-screen offspring Rosie and Sophie Webster.
Whittaker said: 'Thank God they are nothing like Rosie or Sophie. I don't know what I would do if they were.
'They all have their moments but they are angels in comparison to those two of mine on Corrie. It is one thing after another with them. They are so naughty, aren't they?'
Sun safe: Whittaker sensibly keeps covered up with a hat under an umbrella
Whittaker joined the cast in 1986 as teenage Sally Seddon, who met future husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) when he drove through a puddle and splashed her.
The on-screen couple have been married twice and both have had numerous affairs with other people.
Currently, Sally is blissfully unaware Kevin is cheating on her with his business partner Tyrone Dobbs' (Alan Halsall) wife Molly (Vicky Binns).
And if the actress has her way, her character won't find out about Kevin's affair.
Whittaker told Digital Spy: 'To be honest, I'm hoping Sally never finds out and I'm serious about that. I really don't want Sally to find out because so much has happened to Sally and Kevin that I think it would be better if she never, ever finds out.'
Aside from her martial problems, Sally Webster regularly irks her work colleagues and Weatherfield neighbours for her snobby attitude and getting ideas above her station.
Whittaker said: 'My kids say that I'm not really like my character at all. What is even nicer is that they tell me that all their friends know how nice I am.'
