Lohan Booked for First DUI Hours After 'Elle' Denial

Lindsay Lohan promised a magazine journalist her wild ways were behind her just hours before her May DUI arrest, it has emerged.

In an interview with Elle Magazine 36 hours before her police encounter on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, the Mean Girls star insisted prying paparazzi had given her an incentive to quit partying.

She said, "They're looking for me to, like, trip, so they can be like, 'Oh, Lindsay's wasted and driving drunk.' And that's not it.

"I wouldn't violate... I'm much more responsible than that."

Lohan's May arrest followed a minor car crash. She faces charges of misdemeanor hit-and-run and having a blood alcohol level greater than .08.

In July she was arrested for DUI a second time following a high-speed chase in Santa Monica, California.
